The Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants is an introductory course for students looking to begin or build a career in the dog grooming industry. Students will learn the bathing and drying process on a vast amount of dog breeds, and will learn basic trimming on a variety of breeds preparing them for further dog grooming qualifications.
This qualification is suitable for those candidates who have no prior experience in dog grooming.
The Level 2 qualification is a mandatory prerequisite qualification and would need to be gained before you can progress to the Level 3 Dog Grooming Diploma

About the Course
This course is for those who want to become a highly skilled Dog Grooming Assistant. The subjects you will be taught on this course include :-

Basic dog anatomy

Dog behaviour

Dog breeds and coat types

Salon equipment overview, and salon and equipment hygiene

Health checks and recognising and handling health problems

Correct handling of dogs in the bath and on the table

Choosing the correct products, drying methods and tools for different coats

Ear cleansing & nail clipping

Styling using clipper and scissoring methods

De-matting methods
-
Parasite control
The Level 2 course consists of 8 different units:

Preparing and grooming dogs prior to bathing

Bathing of dogs

Drying dogs and preparing a dog for styling

Carrying out trimming of a dog’s coat to prepare for styling

Moving and lifting dogs

Maintaining the cleanliness and biosecurity of the dog grooming environment

Professional conduct
-
An introduction to anatomical features, breed characteristics and behaviour of dogs

Home learning studies is also required.

Why choose a City and Guilds dog grooming course with us?
Our City and Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming course is run by a City & Guilds qualified experienced groomer/tutor, with the necessary level 3 teaching qualification. Each course has a maximum of 2 students per day to ensure 100% attention and one to one support, due to this factor all courses are on a 'first come first served basis.'
We are very flexible with our training, we can work around your commitments, offering one to five days per week, 10am - 5.30pm. This is a 12 day course which is the City & Guilds minimum requirement. Our courses are professional and well structured, we will provide you with full support, confidence and help you through the whole journey.

Our Level 2 course is run over 183 guided learning hours which is the minimum hours required by City and Guilds to gain the full Level 2 qualification. If you have had grooming experience we can also offer reduced learning hours training to gain the qualification, please email theposhpaw@yahoo.com for more information.
You are required to have all of your equipment before you start. We can provide you with the full starter kit at a reduced rate should you wish to purchase this from us.

We work on a first come first served basis so your dates will only be secure once the deposit clears in our account. Once payment has been received a confirmation and placement offer will be sent by return.
